Lizzo’s impact towards People of All Ages
There doesn’t seem to be a specific time when Lizzo gained her massive fame but she’s released multiple hit records and played massive shows. She is known for spreading mass positivity involving body positivity and mental positivity. Lizzo brings up topics on LGBTQ+ as she is apart of the community herself. She shows that you don’t have to categorize your sexuality or gender. Lizzo is able to discuss a wide variety of topics through her platform as well as through her music. Her music plays a big part of the message she wants to spread.
Lizzo released her hit song “Good as Hell” back in 2016. This song discusses big topics such as moving on from big life changes. In verse 1 she begins with “Go on, dust your shoulders off, keep it moving.”, she is showing that it’s ok to let yourself fall but once you hit the ground it’s better to get back up and move on in life. This can help a lot of people who have gone through a rough time and don’t have the motivation to move on from the situation. To continue this she goes on to say, “Come now, come dry your eyes, You know you a star, you can touch the sky, I know that its hard, but you have to try.”. Lizzo shows that she knows things are hard but it’ll get better as you move on in life and you just need the motivational push. A big push for many people is to give them comfort when freshly getting out of a relationship that wasn’t right for them. “If he don’t love you anymore, Just walk your fine a** out the door.”, this shows that you can do better than be with a person who’s love is one sided and you need to find self worth. The reoccurring topic of self worth is seen in this song and a lot more of her other songs. It pushes people of all ages to learn to love themselves before they can love someone else just as much.
Although there are many songs Lizzo has released that discuss a wide range of messages, the ones that stick most to people this generation is her self positivity lyrics. Lyrics such as “Mirror, mirror on the wall, tell me what you see/ It’s that. oh my God, it’s lookin’ heavenly” and “I am my inspiration, I am my inspiration” can help many people make changes in their lives and influence them to become a better version of themselves. If people listened to Lizzo’s lyrics and incorporate it in their everyday lives they can see changes in their lives, see their self love start to grow and can help themselves during hard periods of their lives. The more people hear these sort of affirmations the more they start to live through those said words and the more they start to become independent.
